Long time resident of Grayling, Warren Lacey Hatfield, one of 8 sons and 1 daughter, born to Harold and Gertrude (Mathias) Hatfield on April 24, 1934, in Grayling, passed away on October 8, 2015. Warren married his high school sweetheart, Helen Janet Stephan, on July 18, 1953. He was the father of 3 daughters, JanEl, Connie, and Cheryl. Warren served in the Army National Guard of Michigan from 1952 to 1961. He worked at Bear Archery for 31 years along with caretaking at Pah-Won-Hee on the AuSable River before moving with Bear Archery to Gainesville, Fl in 1978. After leaving Bear Archery, he and Helen became caretakers at Driftwood Villas Condominium in Coco Beach Fl. Upon retirement in 1996, Warren and Helen returned to Grayling. At age 16, Warren began donating blood because he wanted to give back for all the blood given to his brothers who were wounded serving in the U.S. Military. He gave a total of 33 gallons of blood and platelets over the course of his life. Warren also collected over 1 million pop tops for "Tabs for Tots" raising money for specialized hospital equipment for infants and young children. Warren is survived by his wife Helen, his daughters JanEl, (Bryan) Hatfield-Arntson of Mississippi, Connie (Frazier) Hatfield-Pruett of Oregon, and Cheryl (Jay) Hatfield-Hollingsworth of Grayling, his grandchildren, Doug, Angela (1980), Heather, Dan, Jaysen, Lyssa (2003), LaceyJay, Ashara, Bryan and Keenan along with 13 great grandchildren, his brother Carl (Betty) Hatfield and life long friend Coco Mo Joe from Nova Scotia. Consideration for memorial contributions can be made in his name to the American Red Cross. A memorial open house is planned on Wednesday November 25, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at 6543 West 4 Mile Road, Grayling. .
