Vera Lois Katheryn Trimble, age 100, of Grayling, MI passed away peacefully with family by her side on October 4, 2025 at The Brook of Grayling.
Vera was born in New York, NY on February 12, 1925 to Frederick and Louise (Klett) Zweygart. Vera was raised in Queens, New York and spent most of her summers with cousins on Long Island swimming in the ocean. She graduated from the New York City Public High School system and worked with her clerical skills of shorthand / typing, in the New York business world during WW2. She married her high school sweetheart in 1946 and went to MIT in Massachusetts w/her husband for his Engineering degree. After his college, her now growing family moved to Detroit in the early 50’s for a career at Ford Motor Company. For the next 20+ years, her 4 children grew and graduated through the Detroit Public School system. Vera then moved to her home in White Lake and began working for the clerk’s office in Oakland County. After retiring from Oakland County, she moved north closer to her daughter’s family in Grayling.
Over the years, Vera was widely active with social groups including square dancing, rock hounding, quilting, basket weaving, traveling to the Caribbean, white water rafting, and camping with family and the Girl Scouts. More recently she enjoyed spending her winters in the Florida Keys and later in Punta Gorda, FL. She found joy in interests, hobbies, and travel. But most importantly her family.
Vera pursued her interests and life with vigor and enthusiasm. She read, texted, loved plants and nature. She kept up with friends and family, always responding to events in our lives with compassion and support. Vera embraced life and her independence throughout all her years. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her best!
Vera is survived by her children, Amy (Jeff) Pendergraff of Grayling, MI, Fred (Irina) Trimble of Royal Oak, MI, Eric (Linda) Trimble of Pinckney, MI, and Matt Trimble of Brighton, MI. as well as an extended family of 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her Mother (1952) and Father (1972) as well as her cousin that still lived in New York City, William Fischer and a cousin in Northern California/Dallas, TX, Robert Fischer.
Vera's family will remember her privately during this time. They would like to send special thanks to the staff at The Brook of Grayling for providing excellent care to Vera during her last days.
