Russell Kenneth Smith

Russell Kenneth Smith, 90, of Grayling passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018. Russell is survived by sons, Steve (Judy) Smith of Traverse City and Alan (Darlene) Smith of Macomb Twp.; grandchildren, Cortney Smith of Traverse City, Stephanie (Kevin) Endres of Traverse City and Derek (Heather) Smith of Traverse City; and 12 great grandchildren. Russell is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Joan Smith; siblings, Joan Cook, Nanette Booth(twin) and Donald Smith. Russell will always be remembered as an excellent golfer. He was a long-time member of the Grayling Country Club, was assistant coach to the Grayling high school golf team and would offer a teachable moment to anyone with their golf game. He enjoyed fly fishing and made his own flies. He loved his two golden retrievers, Sandy and Ginger. He was very well liked by many and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home in Grayling, MI from 3-8 PM. Funeral services will take place Friday, July 6, 2018 at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with gathering of family and friends from 10-11 AM. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home.
