Ronald James Rakoczy

Ronald James Rakoczy, age 81, of Grayling, passed away on August 5, 2023.

He was born in Chicago on October 5, 1941 to Stanley and Sophie Rakoczy. He grew up in the upper peninsula of Michigan.He married Carolyn on June 4, 1983 at St. Francis Episcopal Church. Ron was an outdoorsman and loved fishing and traveling. He was a man of faith and a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church, he had a sense of humor and kept others laughing. He worked as a supervisor at MichCon.Volunteer work was important to Ron, much time willingly given to the Lion's Club and Wellington Farm Park.

Survived by his wife Carolyn of 40 years. Children: Ronald J. Jr. (Ronda) Rakoczy of Grayling; Stanley R. Rakoczy of Florida; Joseph M. (Kathy) Rakoczy of Virginia; Rosanna (Paul) Zill of Grayling; Stacia (Steve) Hermeston of Colorado; and Susan Smith of Grayling. He was also blessed with 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Sister: Carol Vendeville. Preceded in death by: a son Steven and sisters Delores and Elaine.

Memorial service will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 10:00 AM with military honors to follow the service.
