Robert Allen Mead

Robert Allen Mead, 72, of Grayling passed away on July 27, 2023 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Bob was born to Dee "Pete" and Dolores "Chub" (nee Campbell) Mead on June 26, 1951 in Grand Rapids. Bob married his wife Patty on June 6, 1970. He spent a majority of his career in the oil fields, including a short stint as owner of his company, RAM Drilling. Bob really enjoyed to hunt and fish; he spent a lot of time doing both at his spot for the last 50 years in Beaver Creek and also at the family cabin in the U.P. He mastered the hunt in 2015 with a prize buck he displayed at home with pride. He was a man with such a caring heart, all starting from the love he shared with his sisters and brother. His greatest joy, however, was loving his wife, his boys, their families and helping anyone who knew them in any way he could.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents and brother-in-law Barry VanGuilder.

Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Sue (nee Nelson) Mead; sons Jeremie (Valerie) Mead, Adam (Phyllis) Mead, Timothy (Emma) Mead, Peter (Becky) Mead, Daniel (Monica) Mead, and Caleb (Destinee) Mead; grandchildren Jonah, Madelyn, Graydon, Merrick, Connor, Carlee, Dominick, Hannah, Sarah, Logan, Grace,(grand-cat Tucker Bob), Karson, Emilee, and Aleena; great-grandson Spencer; and siblings Natalie (special friend Mike Gorman) VanGuilder, Deb (Lenny) Lobsinger, Dee (Dora) Mead, and Pam (Bob) Terry.

A Celebration of Bob's Life will take place on Friday August 18, 1 pm, at the Community of Christ in Grayling. Luncheon to follow at the Eagles Hall in Grayling.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Bob to the Beaver Creek Chapter-NWTF, which is providing its 3rd annual deer hunt for disabled veterans November 10-13, 2023.
