Robert Louis McClain, 91 of Grayling, MI passed away on April 19, 2026.

The funeral will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 12:00 PM with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service at Grayling Eagles.

Robert (Bob) was born in Grayling, MI on July 25th, 1934, to Floyd (Mickey) and Carrie (LaGrow) McClain. In August 1954, Bob and Marilyn (Vincent) were united in marriage, and this union lasted for 71 years. Bob Worked for Bear Archery for many years and was the owner of Bob's Drive In and Car Wash. He also worked as an electrician at the current Grayling High School when it was built. He also enjoyed keeping bees and was a gentleman farmer for several years.

Bob and Marilyn moved to Florida in 1978 where he worked and later retired from the University of Florida.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marliyn; children, Jeff (Pam) McClain, Shelly (Kelly) Elmy, Scott (Linda) McClain, Tammy (Stan) Preston, Justin (Jessica) McClain, and Melissa Bull; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Bob is preceded in death by son, Patrick McClain; brothers, Jack, FJ, Jerry, and Jim; and sister Sally Papendick.

Bob was "One of Kind". He will most certainly be missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob can be made to the Ausable Valley Animal Shelter.
