Richard Edward Kiessel

October 6, 1939 — September 27, 2025

Roscommon

Richard Edward Kiessel, 85, of Roscommon, MI, passed away on September 27, 2025. Richard was born in Fort Wayne, IN to his parents, Edward and Helen Kiessel on October 6, 1939. He was a devoted husband to Nancy Kiessel and loving father to his sons, Kurt and Kris.

Richard taught wood shop and math at South Junior High (VanBuren Public Schools) for 30 years. Richard and Nancy retired to their home in Roscommon, MI in 1994. Richard continued doing woodworking and being the life of the party for many years. He loved to cruise around town in his Mustang convertible. Richards' love of the outdoors, hunting, and fishing, led him to serving as a DNR Hunter's Safety instructor for 50 years. He loved working with kids, especially his grandkids. We find comfort in knowing that Richard's legacy lives on through the lessons he has taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy; sons, Kurt (Becky) Kiessel of Roscommon, MI and Kris (Diane) Kiessel of Belleville, MI; grandchildren, Corey (Keilah) Kiessel of Monroe, MI, Aaron Kiessel of Ellensburg, WA, and Amanda (Sam Jr.) Villa of Belleville, MI; great grandson, Grayson Kiessel of Ellensburg, WA; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded by his parents and sisters, Barbara Rafferty and Dorothy Hart Litzer.

Richard's family have chosen to remember him privately during this time.
