Phyllis Pfaff of Grayling, MI passed away in her sleep on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018, after a long battle with health issues. She was born February 8, 1942 in Roscommon, MI to the late Avery and Rosemary Babcock - one of 14 kids. Growing up the daughter of a farmer and square dance caller, work was important, but, square dancing was her joy. Phyllis met her husband Willard Pfaff at one of these weekly dances, and their waltz continued on for over 57 years. Largely a private person, she will be remembered as a devoted wife, an exceptional mother, as well as a loving sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother - all titles that she wore with great pride. Of all things, she treasured her family the most. She was dedicated to close relationships with all of her siblings, and nieces and nephews near and far. In her community, she is remembered most as "the paper lady", having spend over 20 years as the Detroit News/Free Press agent, diligently delivering the paper 7 days a week, 365 days a year, no matter how deep the snow. Later in life, she joined St. John Lutheran Church, and became a dedicated member until her death. She will be remembered at the church for her quilt work, and her strawberry pie and potato salad will be missed. Survived by her husband Willard of 57 years.
