Muriel Eda Leng

Muriel Eda Leng, 90, of Frederic passed away peacefully on August 10, 2021.

Muriel was born on March 20, 1931, in Lansing, MI to George and Eva (LaBelle) Rolfe. She also lived as a child in Tower, Michigan and then moved with her family to Maple Forest. As a young adult she moved to Frederic and took a job at the AuSable Souvenir Works. She met and married Alan Leng in April of 1955. They made their home in Frederic and raised two children. She took her second job with the U.S. Postal Service, starting as a clerk and made her way up to Postmaster before retiring in 1993.

She enjoyed feeding birds, squirrels, and chipmunks at her home, and appreciated a variety of flowers in her yard. In later years, she liked to do crossword and word search puzzles. She was a member of the Church of Christ with the Elijah Message as well as an active member of the Frederic Hobby Club and participated in many of the club activities. She was always willing to help her local community and she will be dearly missed.

Muriel is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Alan Leng as well as siblings; George Rolfe, Doris Anthony, Laurel Swendner, James Rolfe and Paul Rolfe.

She is survived by her children, Jacqueline (Larry) Miller and Alan (Kelly) Leng; grandchildren, Aaron, Shelby, Brandon (Elizabeth), and Hailey; great-granddaughter, Amelia; brother, John Rolfe; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 18, 2021, 11-1 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home in Grayling, MI with Dan Weaver officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Frederic, MI. Condolences can be shared with Muriel's family at www.sorensonlockwood.com.
