Michael David Weiss

July 14, 1966 — November 30, 2020

Michael David Weiss, age 54, of Grayling, passed away November 30, 2020 from Covid 19.  He was born in San Francisco, California, on July 14, 1966, to Robert Weiss and Penny Jones. Mike was a proud, decorated Army Veteran and served in Desert Storm. He was employed by Weyerhaeuser.

Mike met the love of his life, Andrea, in 2009. Mike and Andrea were soulmates and married on October 7, 2017. He was a devoted stepfather to Mollie, Zora, and Phoebe Binert-serving as taxi driver and personal chef on a regular basis. Mike had a heart of gold and was an amazing provider and protector. There was nothing he would not do to take care of Andrea and “his girls”.

Mike was an avid fisherman and cook. No one could catch huge fish like he could! He was a patient teacher of fishing and loved teaching the kids his favorite hobby.  Mike was also an amazing cook-there was often a giant pot of soup or his famous homemade spaghetti sauce cooking on the stove. Weekends often included a breakfast with his famous maple potatoes. Mike loved camping with family and friends, especially his annual birthday week camping trip. Mike was a real pet lover and loved spending time with his two dogs and four cats.

Mike is survived by his wife, Andrea, and his stepdaughters, Mollie, Zora, and Phoebe Binert. Also, by his mother, Penny Jones, brother, Eric (Colleen) Jones, mother-in-law Gayle (Pete) Pitzen, brother-in-law Jon (Kendra) Hancotte, sister-in-law Amanda Anderson, and nieces and nephews: Nikolas (Monica) Hancotte, Krista Hancotte, Danielle Anderson, Dustin Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, and great nephew Alex Hancotte.

Michael was predeceased by his father Robert Weiss, brother, Oran Weiss, and father- in-law, Louis Hancotte.
