Martin Ray ""Marty"" Kitchen

Martin Ray (Marty) Kitchen, 76, of Grayling passed away on Sunday, March 16th, 2008. Martin was born in Lansing, Michigan on April 13, 1931, the son of the late Kirtland K. and Rachel (Filkens) Kitchen. He graduated in 1949 from Grayling High School. He served in the US Navy. Martin was previously employed as a police officer and firefighter for the City of Grayling. He enjoyed fishing, canoeing, reading. Marty was a member of American Legion Post #106 and also a member of the 40 + 8. Survived by: Son: Kirtland Kitchen of Grayling Daughter: Julie Todter of Australia Grandchildren:Jessie, Jeremy, and Amy Brother: Jim (Edna) Kitchen of Frederic Lifelong friend and former wife, Jeanette Kitchen Marty also embraced Jeanette's family which included: Mark (Cheryl) Nelson of Birch Run Michael (Alice) Nelson of Texas Ricky (Mike) Kelly of Grayling Greg Nelson of Grayling Rebecca (Jeff) Bond of Grayling and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Tuesday March 18, 2008 between 3:00 p.m.. and 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Military Honors accorded by American Legion Post 106.
