Kenneth Clayton Halstead, Sr.

Kenneth Clayton Halstead, Sr., age 77, of Grayling, MI passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025 at his home with family at his side.

He was born on June 16, 1948 to Claude "Bud" and Arlene (Dilling) Halstead in Detroit, MI. Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy for 12 years, was given the Vietnam Cross honor along with many other military medals, and served in the Army National Guard for 35 years. He worked as a mechanic at MATES, and he also volunteered as Firefighter/EMT for the Frederic Fire Dept. He lived in Frederic and Grayling and was involved in both communities. He loved to play bingo and used to call out cards. He was able to go on the Honor Flight in 2022 to honor veterans.

Kenneth is survived by his children, Melissa Elliott of OK, Kenneth Halstead, Jr. of Grayling, Charles Halstead of TN, Tiffany (RJ) Pagereski of Grayling, and Jon (Hayley) Halstead of NC; grandchildren, Samantha, Sirria, Katie, Margaret, Brandy, and Courtney; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Liz (Steve) Weaver, Duane (Margaret) Halstead, Raymond (Sara) Halstead, and Kim (Dawn) Halstead; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Leslie Halstead, sister Carol Baker, nephew Josh Halstead, and nephew David Baker.

A Funeral Service with Graveside Military Honors will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 25th, 2025 with visitation beginning at 11:00 am until the start of funeral service at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Grayling. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion Post 106 in Grayling, MI.
