With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Karen Genevieve Kerkau, who left us on February 21, 2026 at the age of 58.

She was born on January 31, 1968 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Kenneth Kerkau and late Rosalie Keech (Smith).

Karen enjoyed cooking family recipes, gardening, and spending time with her kids & grandkids. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Karen leaves behind her children: Robyn (Kevin) Kerkau, Racquel (Tristan) Mitchell, and Ryan (JR) Kerkau. Five grandchildren: Carson Hitz, Laila Hitz, Dawson Mitchell, Rosalie Mitchell, and Liam Keeler. Six brothers and sisters: Kenneth Kerkau, Cheryl (Michael) Brown, Debra Hammers, Christopher Kerkau, Constance (Timothy) Roeglin, and Terrance (Larry) Kertner.

Karen was preceded in death by her brother Rick J. Kerkau and stepfather Larry Tucker.

Karen will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date, during the summer of 2026 for the family.
