Obituary

John Lovell Harrison of Grayling, formally of Manton, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, unexpectedly. He was 72.

John was born November 1, 1953, in Cadillac, Michigan to J. Lovell Harrison and Joanne (Bailey) Harrison.

John grew up in the Manton Area and graduated from Manton High School. He served in the Michigan Army National Guard for 32 years. He worked as a factory worker, a car body repairman, order picker at Home Depot and Range Control at Camp Grayling. John volunteered at Cedar Creek Fire department, Manton Area Rescue Squad, and Manton Fire Department.

John loved spending time outdoors, whether it was fishing, hunting, or a bonfire. He loved watching wrestling on television, surfing Facebook, and tinkering around the house and garage. The thing John enjoyed the most was spending time with his family.

On April 8, 1991, he married Linda O’Dell, who survives him. He is also survived by Patricia (Joe Higgins) O’Dell, John (Jennifer) Harrison, James S. O’Dell, Joy (Matt) Fitzhorn, James (Rachelle) Harrison, and Joshua (Tiffany) Harrison. John was survived by sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren, a sister Doris Harrison, a brother Alan (Susan) Harrison, a brother-in-law Roger Doornbos, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Esther Doornbos and Lois Harrison, nephews Michael Doornbos and Alan Harrison Jr, and a niece, Heather Zimmerman.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from noon to 2 pm and services will be at 2 pm at Sorenson Lockwood Funeral Home located at 1108 W. Down River Road, Grayling, Michigan. There will be a light luncheon after the service at the Grayling American Legion.

The family requests that instead of flowers you donate to your favorite veteran’s charity or to Vets serving Vets, Cadillac, Michigan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.
