John "JACK" Bugyi

John "Jack" Bugyi, age 68, passed away on July 19, 2016 in Maumee, OH. Jack was born and raised in Roebling, NJ and moved to Grayling, MI in 1991. Jack was a loving husband and wonderful father to his children, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Jack retired from Shawono Juvenile Detention Center in Grayling, MI where he worked for 14 years. He was also a former Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus in Georgetown, SC where the family lived for 9 years, and a previous board member of the Grayling Youth Booster Club in Grayling, MI. Jack was an avid gardener and loved grilling out in the backyard with family and friends. He enjoyed vacationing with his wife to any sunny, warm destination with white sandy beaches and blue waves. A baseball fan for most of his life, Jack preferred to watch the Tigers, but any game would do in a pinch. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man who enjoyed life. Jack was preceded in death by his parents John George Bugyi, Jr and Marie (Gebely) Bugyi; and sister Gloria Cicco. Jack is survived by his wife of 40 years, Michele (Kostrub) Bugyi; son, Steven (Mary) Bugyi; daughter Jenna (Don) Shively of Manton, MI; daughter Melissa (Fred) Petito of Newtown, PA; daughter Valerie Newman of East Windsor, NJ; sister, Patricia Stojinski of Florence, NJ; grandchildren, Jarod, Jacob and Joshua Shively; Alice Bugyi; Jamie, Erika and Freddie Petito; Nicholas and Matthew Newman, and many beloved nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Sorenson Lockwood Funeral Home in Grayling, MI, with a brief memorial service at 3:00, followed by visitation until 6:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grayling Youth Booster Club.
