Joan Elida Kaiser

January 30, 1930 — February 27, 2024

Joan Elida Kaiser 94, of Frederic, MI passed away in Traverse City, MI on February 27th, 2024 at Munson Medical Center.

She was born to Albert and Norma (Johnson) Madill on January 30th 1930 in Flint and then became a lifelong resident of Frederic. She was married to the late Eugene Albert Kaiser with whom she had five children.

Joan will be remembered for her ability to connect with all generations. Her home often served as the gathering hub for family and friends. As one friend said “no sing along was complete without her”. She exuded much class and style. In addition to being the queen of Frederic, she also served as the queen of our family!

She was an avid reader, gardener and loved the outdoors. She loved her yard and promised never to bring another bush home to plant, but she never kept that promise. She co-owned Ausable Woodworking and worked full time in the family business well into her 80’s.

More than anything she adored her family. She is survived by her children Marcie (Doug) Slater, Mariann (Dave) Henion, Bert (Penny) Kaiser, Tom (Joni) Kaiser and Jamie Kaiser.

Grandchildren, Doug, Annie, Emily, Adam, Sarah, Rachel, Ryan, Chris, Abbey and Shawn. Great grandchildren, Alder, Laila, Blake, Graham, Billie, Jude, Jackie, Trulan, Rileigh, Ellie, Crew, Emmit and Bailor. She is also survived by her loving sisters Diane Thomas and Maggie Partello.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene, brother James Madill, and parents Albert & Norma Madill.

A memorial is being planned in early summer. Condolences for the family can be directed to In lieu of donations plant a perennial that will keep her memory alive as it blooms year after year.

Arrangements entrusted to Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.
