Janet Maxine Hale

September 16, 1943 — December 26, 2021

Janet Hale, 78, of Grayling, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on December 26, 2021.

Janet was raised in Maple Forest Township and graduated from Frederic High School in 1962. After graduation, she raised three children and worked as a secretary. She eventually retired from K-Mart corporation in the 90's. Some of her vacations were spent with her mom and other family members on ocean getaways such as Gulf Shores and the Atlantic Coast near Myrtle Beach. Walking the beach and finding seashells was one of her favorite activities. Other hobbies included writing poetry and painting. Janet had been an active member in a local church for many years and leaned on her faith to get her through the most difficult times. She held close to her Christian faith throughout her journey on this earth and held onto it until she parted to be with her Heavenly Father. Although sometimes stubborn, her unexpected wit made those around her laugh often. She will be greatly missed.

Janet is survived by her three children: son Scott Hale, daughter Darlene Bennett, and daughter Angel (Derick) VanDenBerg. Sisters: Dawn (Bob) Meabon and Becky Christensen. Grandchildren: Mike (Dorian) Hale, Brittney (RJ) Schmidt, Ray Bennett, Cassondra Bennett, Rachel Opperman, Spencer Opperman, Hailee Hale, and Hayden Hale; 5 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her most beloved dog Twerp. Janet is preceded in death by her father Ivan Hamblin, mother Opal Hamblin, brother Bud (Mary) Hamblin, and former husband Robert Hale.

Graveside service is being planned for a later date at Maple Forest Township Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the family through Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home or to Friends of Hartwick Pines State Park, PO Box 383, Grayling, MI 49738.
