Obituary

Janet Evelyn Gooch, 95, of Frederic, MI passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026 at her home.

Janet was born on December 31, 1930 in Bourne, Massachusetts to Clark and Corena (Sproule) Myers. Janet was an avid reader and had a great sense of humor. She worked as a teacher and librarian for the majority of her life. She was a girl scout leader for many years. She was a member of Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church for many years and was a part of the bell choir. She enjoyed camping and spending time at her fish pond. She loved her family very much and was very proud of their accomplishments.

Janet is survived by her children, Beverly Jean Deardurff and Thomas William Gooch; grandchildren, Joshua Norville, Tiffany Norviel, Jennifer (Erik) Reichert, Wesley Paul Deardurff, Peggy Sue Deardurff, Elizabeth (Joshua) Chalifoux, and Joseph William Gooch; and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald Gooch and daughter Nancy Joe Gooch.

A memorial service will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Friday March 20, 2026 at 12:00 PM with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. A light luncheon will follow the memorial service at the funeral home. Janet will be laid to rest at Homewood Memorial Gardens in Homewood, IL in the summer of 2026.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Frederic Fire Department.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.
