James Smith Morrow II

James Smith Morrow, II, 63, of Beaver Creek Twp, MI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 6, 2022.

Jim was born in Detroit, MI on November 10, 1958 to James and Nell (Short) Morrow. Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed trapping, gunslinging, hunting and was a champion fisherman. He earned the nicknames "Snowman", "Yeti" and "Bigfoot". He was a closet comedian and was known to be very witty. He survived multiple home fires and a bad hunting accident. He was a collector of many things and a "breaker" of anything mechanical.

Jim loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren, whom he enjoyed teaching many things. He was a jack of all-trades and a master of a few, knowledgeable in just about everything. He was a caring man and was always helpful to anyone in need.

Jim is survived by his partner of 33 years Cheryl-Ann Cooper; children Jim (Sara) Morrow III, Roberta (Mike) Schmidt, Travis (Kim) Harden, Mac (Julia) Morrow and Jason Morrow; grandchildren Alex, Juniper, Jasmyne, Aurora, Leah, Levi, Blake, Connor, Bentley, Johnathan, Wayde and Sophie; brothers Mark (Barb) Morrow and Bill (Cathy) Morrow; aunts Delores Guay and Thelma Stevens; and cousin Mike Guay. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Nell, his grandparents and his in-laws Bill and Marge Cooper.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 2-7 pm with a funeral service at 6 pm at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home, 1108 W. North Down River Rd., Grayling, MI 49738. A graveside service will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Spring 2022.
