We are saddened to announce the passing of James Gordon Larson, age 82 formerly of Bay City, Michigan on July 5, 2026. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Munson Healthcare – Grayling Hospital.

Jim was born in Bay City on August 14, 1943, to parents Gordon and Vivian (Anderson) Larson.

As a real estate broker, Jim had companies in Bay City, then Atlanta, Georgia and finally settling in Florida. Jim always returned to Grayling, Michigan to his happy place at the Recreation Fishing Club on the Au Sable River, where he was a member for fifty-two years. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his dear buddies at the Club.

Jim was an avid fly fisherman spending endless hours on the rivers of northern Michigan. In more recent years, he developed a passion for golf, even making a hole-in-one last year.

Jim was a loving, wonderful husband, grandfather, stepfather and friend who will be deeply missed.

Jim is survived by his wife Julie G. Larson; children, Lynn (Rob) Doty and Jamie Larson; step-daughters, Leigh (Neil) Holcomb and Angela (Bryan) Marshall; step-grandchildren, Wyatt, Kathryn (Cavan) Slavny and Grace Slavny; and brother Tom (Lois) Larson. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Greg Larson.

A memorial service will be held for Jim on July, 31, 2026 at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home in Grayling, Michigan at 12:00 pm with visitation from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Lunch will be provided after the service.
