Gwendolyn Sue Solomonson

Gwendolyn "Penny" Sue Solomonson, age 74, passed away on September 5, 2023 under hospice care with family by her side.

She was born March 18, 1949 in Cave Spring, GA to John O'Neal and Sarah Leese. She married John W. Solomonson in April 1965. Penny received her Cosmetology Licensure from Kirtland Community College and went on to open the Essence of Beauty Salon in 1975. Her husband John passed away and left Penny a widow in August 1977 with three children to raise. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. She eventually retired from hairdressing after 42 years.

Penny is preceded in death by her husband John, mother Sarah (Pete) Lionberger, father John O'Neal, her beloved Aunt Jean (Johnny) Campbell, brother Thomas Leese, sister Darlene, granddaughter Raven Galloway, niece Emily Lionberger and nephew Nick Lionberger.

She is survived by her son John R. (Elizabeth) Solomonson and grandson Rourke Solomonson, brother Dennis (Patti) Lionberger, sister-in-law Elaine Leese, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Cremation has taken place with no services as requested.
