Gale A. Clayton, 62, of Roscommon passed away peacefully Wednesday March 28, 2018 at Grayling Mercy Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Gale was born December 18, 1955 in Blissfield Michigan to Howard J. and Georgia L.(Deyarmond) Berger. She was raised in Dearborn Heights during her early years. Her middle and late childhood years were spent in Belleville with her mother and step-father Martin P. Potzger. Gale married Keith Clayton from Belleville. They first moved to Roscommon and then to Gaylord where their three sons grew up. Gale was the owner of The Roscommon Motel for over twenty years. She operated this second generation owned motel with her long-time companion, Alan Schmitt, for the last fifteen years. During her life, Gale enjoyed fishing, antiques, and music. She was an artist of unique glass creations. Her life reflected love for all things family just as her glass art sparkles. Surviving are her children, Jeremy (Dana) Clayton of Lupton, Shayne (Dawn) Clayton of Gaylord, and Joel (Melissa) Clayton of Gaylord; sister, Carol Crow; grandchildren, Declan, Logan, Lindsay, Tyler, and Erica Clayton, Kevin Geiger and Zak Spicer; nephew- Daniel "Danny" Crow; nieces- Erin (Berger) Monroe and Larissa Head. Gale was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, and brother Howard "David" Berger. A memorial service will take place at 11 AM on April 21, 2018 at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home 1108 W. North Down River Road Grayling. Gale will later be laid to rest with her mother and step-father at Otsego Lake Township Cemetery in Gaylord. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to the Roscommon County Commission on Aging 2625 S. Townline Road Houghton Lake Michigan 48653.
