Dolores Jean "Grandma Chub" Mead, 89, of Grayling, passed away on December 16, 2020.
She was born at home in Moddersville, Michigan on August 31, 1931 to the late Milford and Emma Campbell. She graduated from Merritt High School. She was a cheerleader and married her basketball star, Pete Mead on October 29, 1949. They were married for 68 years before he preceded her in death in 2018. Grandma Chub loved spending time with her family at the cabin at Saint Martins Point. She enjoyed playing cards and was a fantastic seamstress. She gifted many people and her family with her beautiful quilts.
Survived by her children: Natalie VanGuilder, Robert (Patricia) Mead, Debra (Leonard) Lobsinger, Dee (Dora) Mead, Pamela (Robert) Terry. Grandma Chub was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Sisters: Dorothy Ensing, Deanna Pace, Darlene (Larry) Beerens, and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents and husband, sisters Donna and Della, brother in law Leonard, and son in law, Barry VanGuilder.
Public walk through visitation will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home between 12-2 p.m. Celebration of Grandma Chub's live will be held in Spring 2021. Interment will be at Moddersville Cemetery in spring.
