Debbie Lee
Money
December 24, 1958 – April 4, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Debbie Lee Chamberlin Money. Born Debora, a name she never cared for, she was Debbie through and through. Debbie was born wrapped up like a sweet little gift on Christmas Eve, 1958. She transitioned out of this life as an angel on Easter Eve, April 4, 2026. Through her journey, she touched many lives with her unwavering spirit.
She met the love of her life, Dan Money, in 1981 at the Hilltop Bar. Soon after, they were hitched for life on December 17th, 1983. “Ma” & “Pa,” they so lovingly called each other with sarcasm. Dan & Debbie enjoyed life as campground hosts at a KOA in Albuquerque, NM. This led their adventure back home to Mio, where they lived at the Oscoda County Park and raised their three beautiful children.
Debbie enjoyed being on the bowling league and playing darts for 20+ years. Yet in darts, she still called a white horse a purple unicorn. She spent many winters playing cards, dice, and games with her family, with notebooks adorned with game scores and little funny notes about Dan or one of her sisters. Driven by an endless thirst for the outdoors, Debbie spent her summers with her family as the true AuSable River Queen, canoeing, boating, camping, and enjoying thousands of bonfires, where she roasted little smokey links…or Dan.
Debbie lived life for her family and helping others. Her human kindness showed during her long-standing management position at the local laundromat. She had an unblemished quality about her, always helping the elderly to their vehicles, checking on them when she had not seen them that week. Self-sacrificing to care for others was the woman Debbie was.
Holiday times were something way more than ordinary. She always took a childlike delight in the excitement of family get-togethers, sharing memories and laughter, games and name-calling, homemade food, and of course, Debbie’s cookies! Pure love went into those ingredients that made her cookies and her family. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and the future great grandchildren to come. Tell the stories and share the memories as we do in celebration of the life that Debbie has lived. May they be funny, sarcastic, witty, and told in all the ways Debbie would have told them, a legacy left for generations.
Debbie is survived by: her husband, Dan Money; daughter, Shayna DeVault (Keith); sons, Greg Money (Sara) and Brent Money (Lennon); grandchildren Khloe, Ethan, Layla, and Jacob; sisters Dawn, Diane, Denise, and Danna; brother Robbie; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her mother, Marvel Colosky; her grandmother, Violet Chamberlin; her grandmother, Wilma Battice; and her grandfather, Robert Battice.
A Celebration of Debbie’s exceptional life will be held on May 24th, 2026. We invite all who knew and loved Debbie to join us in honoring her memory. More details to come.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.
