Carl "MAC" Kenneth McPherson

Carl Kenneth (MAC) McPherson, 81, of Grayling died at Mercy Manor in Grayling. Born October 18, 1933 in Troy, Michigan to the late Houston and Docie McPherson. He is survived by his loving wife Elaine McPherson of 26 years of marriage; daughter, Kathy (Dan) Mast of South Carolina; son, Ken (Sharon) McPherson of Texas; brother, George Houston McPherson of Arizona; sister Hazel Marie Hoef of Florida; stepdaughters, Bonnie (Tom) Miller of Grayling, Patricia (Aaron) Greene of Alpena, Cathi Brandenburg of Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Edgar and sister Millie Holt. Mac served in the US Navy as a Physicians Assistant and was honorably discharged. Mac worked at Price Funeral Home, White Chapel Cemetery,and for the City of Troy. He moved to Grayling and in 1965 went to work for Bear Archery. He retired from Grayling Elementary School as a janitor after 25 years of service. Mac also loved clocks. At age 17 his sister Marie asked him to repair her clock and that's where his love began and continued up until the fall of 2014 when he reluctantly retired from clock repair due to his failing eye sight. Mac had a deep love for country music and enjoyed his annual three day country music jamboree in August for 20 years. Friends and family came from all over and camped out. Funeral service will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on May 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with a public visitation before from 12-2 p.m. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Frederic, Michigan.
