Beverly Ann Ebert (Cook), 93, of Roscommon, MI passed away peacefully at home on February 24th, 2026, with family at her side.
Beverly (Bev, Mom, Nana) was born to Rolland and Dorcas (Swarthout) Cook in Owosso, MI on March 12, 1932. She was a graduate of Owosso High School and attended Central Michigan University where she met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Ebert, and was married on June 23rd, 1951. Beverly taught elementary school and later worked in business in office management. Her first passion was her husband and family who she fiercely loved. Married to a successful coach, she missed only one basketball game in the 30 years that he coached. She and her husband lived in several places, but they both grew up at Higgins Lake, spent most summers working at Dick’s parents’ resort at the lake and where they eventually built their retirement home. There, their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren have made wonderful memories of days on the Lake, special family events, and much family time together. Although Beverly lived in many different locations in her life, every summer you knew where to find her. There is a sign on her door that every child or grandchild knew before stepping foot in the house, “If there’s no answer, check by the lake.” Beverly loved fishing, gardening, traveling, cruising and most of all, dancing with her husband. She and Dick also spent winters in Florida during their retirement, often saying that they had the best of both worlds. She is remembered by all who know her as being fun, kind, graceful, strong, and unbelievably courageous. Her legacy is her wonderful family who always strive to follow her example. Bev will be deeply missed by her family and everyone that knew her.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard and is survived by her children, Rick (Peggy) Ebert of Mio, MI, Lorri (Richard) Glidden of Higgins Lake, MI, Kurt Ebert of North Carolina, Michael (Holly) Ebert of Illinois, and Kathleen (Gregory) Gothro of Grayling, MI, 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will take place at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home in Grayling, MI on March 8th, 2026, with visitation from 11am-1pm, service and luncheon immediately following. Burial will take place later in the Spring 2026 at Oakwood Cemetery in Lyon Twp, MI.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Beverly Ebert to Heartland Hospice, who took excellent care of Mom for 8 years. Address for donations: Heartland Hospice, 564 Progress St., West Branch, MI 48661.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.
