Walter H. Fleeger

Walter H. Fleeger, 93,of Grayling, passed away on April 15, 2017. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 16, 1923 to Walter L. and Selma (Strauss) Fleeger. He graduated from Sylvania High School and enlisted in the Army Air Force and served in World War II. After retiring, he and his wife Lois (Steusloff), whom he married on June 19, 1948 move to their home on the AuSable River. Even though retired, he continued community work serving at the Crawford County Christian Help Center, Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church where he served on many committees including the renovation of the church. He was active in Habitat for Humanity, serving as a board member and worker. In 2003, he received an Honorable Mention of the Governor's Service Award for community service. He was very active in both Masonic and Easter Star Orders in both Toledo and Grayling. He was a Past Master of Sylvania Lodge, Past Dad Advisor of Order of DeMolay for Boys and Past Patron of Sylvania O.E.S. Walter is survived by his wife Lois of 68 years.
