John "Gus" William Matthews

John "Gus" William Matthews, 78, of Grayling, MI passed away peacefully Saturday, May 4, 2019. Gus was born June 26, 1940 in Pontiac, MI to Edwin and Edna (Wedger) Matthews. He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Marines. Gus was a collector of many things. He liked cars, motorcycles, western movies, books, American history, the outdoors, telling stories and visiting with people. Gus is survived by 3 children, Steven Matthews, Nicholos Paul Matthews and Heather Casey; sister, Shirley Matthews; and companion, Diana Doremire. Graveside services with military honors will take place Friday, May 10, 2019, 1:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Grayling, MI.
