Jacqueline Anne Bonkowski, 78, of Grayling, passed away on September 30, 2018. She was born on April 15, 1940 in Riverview, Michigan to the late William and Anne (Bozynski) Matthews. Jacqueline was the first homecoming queen ever at Trenton High. She married William John Bonkowski, Jr. on September 3, 1960 in Trenton, Michigan. Jacqueline worked at Friend of the Court in Crawford and Otsego Counties. She enjoyed politics and served her community as a Crawford County Commissioner. Jacqueline enjoyed writing, gardening, and was an avid reader. She was a writer for Gaylord Herald Times. Survived by her husband Bill of 58 years. Children: William Bonkowski, III of Grayling and Mary Jo (Michael) Fullerton of Acme. Preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bill and Thomas Matthews. Memorial service will be held on October 13, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home. with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Full obituary will be in next weeks Avalanche.
