Prearrangement & Preplanning
A thoughtful thing to do
for yourself and your family.
Prearrangement and preplanning can be as simple as writing down your preferences and information your family will need at the time of your death, or it can be prefunded.
Prearrangement and preplanning can be funded in a number of ways such as insurance or setting up an escrow account.
Guaranteed or Nonguaranteed Contracts
(That is the Question!!)
Your contract may be either a “guaranteed price agreement” or a “non-guaranteed price agreement." Each contract has unique conditions. If your contract is a “guaranteed price agreement” and the choices of services and merchandise is paid in full and not changed, no additional money will be required for those items which are prepaid. If your contract is a ”non-guaranteed price agreement”, your family will be responsible for any difference between the current charges at the time of the funeral and the amount in the ESCROW account.
What happens if I would need to cancel this contract?
Life is uncertain and changes do take place. In some cases the contract will need to be canceled and by law, you are entitled to receive a minimum 90% refund of both your original payment and all earned income in your ESCROW account. It is important to note that contracts certified as “ irrevocable ” by Family Independence Agency cannot be cancelled for any reason. Upon request the funeral director will normally transfer the “irrevocable” contract to another funeral home.
