Julie Ann Gates, age 56, of Grayling passed away on October 31, 2015 in Downers Grove, Illinois at Good Samaritan Hospital after a two year battle with cancer with her family by her side. Julie was born in Grayling, Michigan on May 29, 1959, the daughter of the late Anthony McCredie and Gale (Gauthier) Minard. Julie graduated from Grayling High School in 1977. She received an Associated Degree in Business from Kirtland Community College. She married the late Calvin (Rusty) Gates Jr. on December 3, 1988. Julie was former co-owner of Gates Ausable Lodge, alongside her husband the late Calvin "Rusty" Gates. Julie took pride in all that she cooked for friends and guests in the kitchen and took in a number of the community youth giving them their first job and was such an inspiration to many. She was a very proud Mary Kay consultant for over 25 years . She was a very loving "Nana" to her three granddaughters and her Baby "Ruby". Julie was active member of Mount Hope Lutheran Church. She served on the Board as Treasurer, and was a devoted member of the Women's Bible Study Group, Care of Alter Guild, and reluctant member of the choir. Julie was a member of the Red Hat Society, Lovells Bridge Club, Book Club, and an avid biker. She never missed sending a friend or family member a card for a birthday or holiday. Survived by: Mother: Gale Minard of Lovells Daughter: Misty Wilson and her children, Breonna and Victoria of Woodridge, IL. Son: Christopher (Brittany) Burden and daughter Sienna of Milwaukee, WI, Sisters: Janet (Arnie) Renkiewicz, Gaylord, Mary (Gary) Bowen of Lovells, Sue (Ron) Ray of Lovells, Sherry Caid of Romeoville, IL , Bothers: James McCredie of Lovells, Kenneth (Dawn) Minard or Grayling, MI, Julie is also survived by many dear friends, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Preceeded in death by her husband: Rusty; father: Anthony McCredie; the man who was instrumental in raising her: Kenneth Minard, Sr.; grandparents; Everett and Agnes McCredie Visitation will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Friday, November 6, 2015 between 1-4 p.m. and 5-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt.
